Former Hallgarten Sales Manager, Rupert Bairamian, passes away
It is with great sadness that Hallgarten & Novum Wines announces the passing of former London Sales Manager, Rupert Bairamian, aged 58, on Saturday 28th November, after battling a short illness.
Rupert joined Hallgarten in April 1996 with Michael Druitt, following the acquisition of Druitt Vintners by Hallgarten Wines. An integral part of the London sales team, he enjoyed great success with his sales often amongst the highest in the company.
During his time in the wine industry, Rupert made a huge contribution to the development of the Hallgarten Wines business, was well known to a large number of restaurateurs in Central London, and was hugely popular amongst customers and colleagues.
Rupert was a great character, with a wicked sense of humour, and his trademark grin was well known everywhere. He had a huge passion for life, and for cricket; known for his accomplished batting abilities. After 17 years with Hallgarten Wines, Rupert made the decision to leave the company in August 2013 and, together with his wife and young son James, emigrate to Australia.
Hallgarten Wines Managing Director, Andrew Bewes, commented:
“Rupert was a fantastic character, and truly embodied the Hallgarten Wines ethos; he was unbelievably passionate about wine and the restaurants he worked with during his time with the company. He will be sorely missed by all that had the fortune of knowing him. Even though Rupert left the company some years ago, stories of his 17 years in our London team are still told with great fondness. We look forward to raising a glass to him as a company as soon as possible.”
Rupert will be fondly remembered by customers, suppliers, colleagues and competitors alike.
