Hallgarten Wines’ latest additions to growing portfolio
We are delighted to announce a number of new additions to its portfolio from across the winemaking world. Llopart, the traditional method sparkling wine producer from Penedès; Viña VIK the premium Chilean winery; and Bosco Viticultori, Prosecco producer from the heart of the Veneto have all been brought into the range as the business targets new customers in the second half of the year.
Organic sparkling wine producer, Llopart, vinifies on its estate, Can Llopart de Subirats, in one of the highest areas of Penedès. They use the term ‘Corpinnat’ on their labels, and co-founded the use of the term, which is based on specific criteria: 100% certified organic, grown in a designated area of Penedès, hand-harvested, vinified entirely on the estate property and long lees ageing. The addition of these wines to Hallgarten Wines’ portfolio adds variety and depth to its sparkling offering.
Also joining Hallgarten’s portfolio is Viña VIK, the renowned premium Chilean producer established by Alex and Carrie Vik in 2004. The owners created Viña VIK with a vision to create exceptional wines through careful selection of diverse terroirs and a dedicated team of specialists including winemakers, climatologists, geologists, vine growers, and agronomists.
The vineyards at Viña VIK were selected following extensive research and are located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Millahue, in the Cachapoal Valley. The name Millahue, translating to ‘Place of Gold’ in Chile's indigenous language, aptly captures the essence of the location. The addition of the premium Chilean producer adds further diversity to Hallgarten Wines’ strong South American selection.
The portfolio of award-winning wines joining the Hallgarten portfolio from Viña VIK includes icon wine, VIK, which has consistently received over 96 points from James Suckling, for each vintage, over the past 10 years.
Steve Daniel, Head of Buying at Hallgarten & Novum Wines, commented: “We are extremely proud to be able to welcome such names as Viña VIK and Llopart to our portfolio; names I have long known and respected. In Viña VIK, we have a fantastic addition to our already strong Chilean offering. Their meticulous approach to every aspect of the winemaking process enables them to craft outstanding wines which will be great for our customers’ wine lists or shop shelves. Llopart really offers something different to our customer base. They are, quite rightly, setting themselves apart from Cava producers, creating world-beating sparkling wines that deserve a place on any wine list. Corpinnat is an exciting movement with a strong focus on terroir and quality and Llopart’s wines are a great example of this. With Llopart in our portfolio, our Spanish range now offers increased depth, breadth and diversity to the trade.”
To further bolster to its sparkling offering, Hallgarten has become exclusive on-trade distributor for Bosco Viticultori, from whom it offers staple Prosecco, Canal Grando. Bosco Viticultori is situated in the Veneto region, in the heart of the Prosecco area. 10 oenologists work to ensure consistent quality across the extensive range of wines. Hallgarten’s increased access to their wide stable of wines will give greater flexibility to its customers.
