Hallgarten Wines Strengthens Premium Portfolio with Piedmont’s Vietti

Specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has been appointed exclusive UK distributor for Vietti, Vinous Magazine’s 2022 Winery of the Year. Hallgarten Wines will be listing a substantial number of wines from the iconic Piedmont winery to its award-winning portfolio as it looks to expand its offering of premium wines to the UK hospitality and retail sectors.

The Vietti family has produced fine wine from the heart of the Langhe since the 1800s, when Carlo Vietti established the winery in the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto. Subsequently four generations have continued the winemaking heritage. At the end of the 1950s, Alfredo Currado, introduced the idea of producing single vineyard crus in Barolo and Barbaresco, and in 1961 one of the very first Barolo Crus was produced by Vietti: Rocche di Castiglione.

Jim Wilson, Portfolio Director at Hallgarten Wines commented: “There are some names in Piedmont that resonate with the wine trade, and the public, more than others. Vietti is one of them. As we look to work closer than ever with the UK’s premium retailers and restaurants, having Vietti as part of our portfolio will help to further strengthen these relationships.

“Vietti is steeped in history and now crafts highly sought-after wines from the finest crus in Barolo and Barbaresco. We are very excited to share the wines with our customers in the trade!”

In 2016, the Krause family purchased Vietti and worked alongside Luca and his wife Elena until their retirement in 2023. The Krause family further developed the estate with the purchase of new, renowned crus in Barolo and Barbaresco, and in Colli Tortonesi where Timorasso flourishes. We are delighted to add these thrilling, award-winning wines to our portfolio.

Eugenio Palumbo, Winemaker at Vietti commented: “Commitment and vision, culture and passion. These are the values that have contributed to the growth of the Vietti winery and brand, universally recognized today among the best Italian wine labels. The path of quality is traced, thanks to the respect for tradition and careful experimentation, where man and earth have always been able to dialogue.

“As in the past, Vietti maintains those founding values, the same that animated Carlo Vietti at the beginning, and all his successors then. It looks towards the future with even more promising and stimulating prospects. Each wine is the result of artisanal work and the profound understanding and interpretation of each individual terroir. Vietti is thus the place where the intelligence of the hands, applied in the vineyard and the cellar, meets the vision.”
