Gaia Wines’ Assyrtiko Stars in New Guardian Drinks Column
We’re always on the lookout for unusual and off-the-wall wines to ‘coax a wine aficionado away from their comfort zone’, so we are very pleased to see one such wine from the HDN portfolio featured in Christian Holthausen's new Guardian drinks column ‘Drink Aloud’.
Gaia Wine’s Wild Ferment Assyrtiko 2012 from Santorini, Greece stars alongside an Oregon mega blend (nine different white varietals) and a modern Languedoc white blend in Holthausen's ‘three wines to gift a connoisseur’ post.
These wines are chosen because they are delicious but outside the connoisseur’s comfort zone, so when giving as a gift you’re likely to impress rather than kick start a lecture on the merits (or otherwise) on the Bordeaux classification of 1855. Which is a good thing, of course.
