Hallgarten Wines Expands Portfolio into Cognac with Frapin

The specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of Grande Champagne Cognac producer, Frapin. Frapin Cognac is a natural extension to Hallgarten’s wine offering, providing its customers with an enhanced range of products.

Hallgarten Wines has added six of Frapin’s Cognacs to its portfolio, offering its partners in the hospitality, retail and travel retail sectors a broad array of styles from the historic estate.

Jim Wilson, Portfolio Director at Hallgarten & Novum Wines, commented: “We are proud to be a wine specialist business, and in-keeping with this, excited to be extending our portfolio into the grape-based spirits world with what we see as one of the best examples of Cognac in the world, with bottles aged beyond the requisite amount of time.

“By extending our portfolio with the Frapin, we are able to cover all stages of the dining experience; from aperitif, to digestif. Frapin is a producer that needs little introduction and we are all very excited to be working with them, and itching to show the products off to our partners in the trade.”

“This partnership reflects our commitment to bringing our craftsmanship to discerning wine and spirits enthusiasts We are very excited to be working with the team at Hallgarten Wines,” says Patrice Piveteau, Cellar Master and Managing Director at Cognac Frapin.

Frapin's single family estate encompasses 240 hectares of vines within the heart of Grande Champagne, the premier cru of the Cognac Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée.

Steeped in history and still in original family ownership, the family’s vine growing history dates back to 1270. In 1480, Frapin and Rabelais families became linked following the marriage of Antoine Rabelais and Anne-Catherine Frapin, whose son is the famous 16th century writer, François Rabelais. In 1697, King Louis XIV awarded a coat of arms to his apothecary, Pierre Frapin.

To this day, Frapin uses well-established methods passed down through the generations to hand-craft cognacs that are exclusively harvested, distilled and aged on the estate. Each blend reflects the unique terroir of Grande Champagne and offers a rich, sensory experience that captures the heritage of the Frapin House.

In addition to its place as a digestif, Frapin Cognac has been developed for bars as a key cocktail ingredient and can be used to create a number of signature serves
