Hallgarten Wines Announces Second ED&I Focused Wine Trip to Greece
Specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has opened applications for its second educational trip to Greece, designed to help advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) in the hospitality and wine industries. Following the success of its inaugural trip in 2024, Hallgarten Wines will be offering individuals from diverse backgrounds, working in the hospitality trade or seeking a career in the wine trade, the opportunity to travel to Greece with Hallgarten Wines.
The fully funded trip is open to two individuals and will take place at the end of September 2025, including flights to and from northern Greece, and educational visits to two wineries from Hallgarten’s award-winning Greek portfolio: Ktima Gerovassiliou and Akrathos. With the aim of furthering the successful individual's understanding of the wine industry, the trip will immerse them in a wine-producing region in which Hallgarten Wines has long been an industry leader.
Hallgarten Wines has a passion for fostering ED&I within the wine and hospitality sectors, by providing opportunities for individuals who may not otherwise have access to specific wine-related courses and qualifications.
Hallgarten Wines Managing Director, Andrew Bewes, commented: "We are committed to building a more inclusive and equitable wine industry – it is part of the Hallgarten DNA. This trip, led by our ED&I committee, aims to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds in the hospitality and wine trades by providing the opportunity to travel, learn, connect, and build industry connections, helping to break down barriers and create a more sustainable future."
One of last year’s attendees Morgan Schille, Sommelier at 10 Cases in London, commented: “The ED&I trip with Hallgarten last October was an incredible opportunity to explore one of Greece’s most captivating wine regions alongside a group of inspiring wine trade professionals. From walking the vineyards of Akrathos and Ktima Biblia Chora, to sharing meals and stories with producers and peers, the experience offered not only deep insight into Greek viticulture but also space for genuine connection and exchange. It was a rare and rewarding chance to step away from the everyday and engage with exceptional wines – and with brilliant members of the wine trade – in a meaningful and thoughtful way.”
Hallgarten Wines is inviting applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds, who work in hospitality and have an interest in wine, or who work in the wine trade who are seeking to further their knowledge and career in the wine trade. This also comes with the opportunity to have a written article featured in Hallgarten’s wine-focused magazine, Assemblage.
"Diverse background" is a broad term that can include, but is not limited to, people with disabilities, various ethnicities, neurodiversity, different gender identities, and sexual orientations. Our goal is to enhance equity, diversity, and inclusion within the wine industry by supporting the development of individuals who may not have easy access to such opportunities.
To apply for the trip, individuals should complete the Google form below, detailing their reasons for applying and how this opportunity could significantly benefit them. The application deadline is 28th July 2025, after which applications will be reviewed and successful candidates contacted.
