Hallgarten & Novum Wines Bolsters Italian Portfolio with Bellavista
Specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has added premium Franciacorta producer, Bellavista, to its Italian portfolio. Available exclusively to the UK’s hospitality and retail sectors, Hallgarten has welcomed all the wines from Bellavista to its expanding Italian range.
Founded in 1977 by Vittorio Moretti, and situated on Bellavista Hill in the west of the region, the family-run winery was one of the first to produce classic method wine in Franciacorta. Moretti's grandfather farmed in Franciacorta, and Moretti returned to the area after making his fortune in construction. In 1981, Moretti partnered with young winemaker Mattia Vezzola, which transformed Bellavista into a leading producer of sparkling wine.
Now with over 200 hectares of vineyards under vine, spread across 10 communes in Franciacorta, the vineyard sites are located close to Lake Iseo and Monte Orfano. The grapes are grown in stoney, glacial soil, ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Jim Wilson, Portfolio Director at Hallgarten Wines, commented: “The wines of Bellavista represent the epitome of Italian style - stunningly presented and beautifully elegant. We are delighted to have them as part of our expanding offering as we develop our premium Italian range, with the likes of Vietti and Banfi, and look to build the most enviable portfolio in the wine industry. Bellavista is one of the pioneers of Franciacorta; a producer that is known worldwide for its quality and commitment to excellence.”
Export Director at Bellavista, Vitaliano Tirrito, commented: "We are extremely honoured to have the opportunity to strengthen our partnership with Hallgarten Wines, one of the UK’s leading wine importers. From the first time we met with the team at Hallgarten Wines we could feel the great energy, passion and dynamism the team has, which makes us all excited to see what the future will hold.”
The introduction of the wines from Bellavista has been timed to coincide with the relaunch of their Alma range, which will be available to taste at Hallgarten Wines’ two-day trade tasting in January. Hosted at Old Billingsgate in London, on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th January, the range will be shown alongside over 1,000 wines from across Hallgarten’s multiple award-winning portfolio.
