Banfi joins Hallgarten & Novum Wines’ expanding portfolio

Specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has expanded its Italian portfolio with the addition of iconic Montalcino-based producer, Banfi. Hallgarten Wines will exclusively represent all Banfi’s wines and family estates, coordinating distribution across the entirety of the UK’s hospitality and retail sectors.

The introduction of the award-winning wines from Banfi is part of a wider portfolio expansion, as Hallgarten Wines gears up for its two-day trade tasting, at Old Billingsgate in London, on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th January, where it will be showing over 1,000 wines from across its portfolio.

Jim Wilson, Portfolio Director at Hallgarten Wines, commented: “I was absolutely enamoured when I first tasted the wines of Banfi - world-class is truly the only way to describe them. To say I am excited to welcome them into our portfolio is an understatement; I am confident there will be a huge appetite for the wines when we pour them at our Annual Tasting in January.

“Banfi is one of a number of Italian producers we are looking to introduce to our portfolio in the coming months, as we look to add greater breadth and depth in the country’s key regions. There is so much diversity in Italy, with producers across the nation creating wines that represent great value for money and styles that are perfectly suited to the UK palate, and we are determined to bring these wines to the public!”

Cristina Mariani-May, CEO at Banfi, commented: “Banfi is excited to partner with Hallgarten & Novum Wines in the UK and work together to bring the wines of our family’s vineyard estates, to the many valuable, multi-channel customers of Hallgarten. Banfi is dedicated to research, innovation and hospitality, and along with Hallgarten Wines we will continue to build a better wine world.”

Founded in 1978 by Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, Banfi represents a marriage of winemaking passion and technological innovation. Based out of Castello di Poggio alle Mura, in the southwest of Montalcino, near Sant’Angelo Scalo, their aim is to produce the best Brunello di Montalcino possible, with a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, as recognised by the Equalitas certification. Through collaboration with Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's most eminent winemakers, the team at Banfi has led the transformation of Brunello di Montalcino into the highly-regarded appellation it is now today.
