In A Nutshell: A sumptuous and refreshing white from one of Campania’s (and Italy’s) most revered producers. 2015 was a stellar year, and this is a stellar wine.
The Producer: One of the main protagonists in the renaissance of southern Italian wines, Feudi di San Gregorio has carved out a reputation for making truly world-class wines in less than 30 years. The company began in the mid-1980s with the aim of safeguarding local traditions, unlocking the potential of key indigenous grapes such as Fiano, Greco, Falanghina and Aglianico.
The Wine: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 16-18 °C, followed by 4-5 months maturation on its lees with frequent batonnage for greater texture and mouth-feel. The result is a rich and complex white with plenty fruit, freshness and a hint of spice.
Tasting Note: A vibrant wine with classic pear and green plum fruit. Full bodied on the palate with a lively acidity and peachy minerality. Some beeswax and bitter lemon on the finish.
