It’s certainly the season (summer) for the broadsheet’s to publish their lists of the best summer wines, and this weekend it was the Daily Telegraph’s turn.
Columnist Victoria Moore selected 12 red wines and 18 whites, rosés and sparklers for her 30 Best Wines for Summer feature, including two stunning whites from the Hallgarten portfolio.
Domaine Gerovassiliou’s Estate White Malagousia-Assyrtiko 2015 and Domaine Georges Vernay ‘Terrasses de l’Empire’ Condrieu 2014 were both highly rated by Moore.
“It’s a gorgeous summer white,” she says of the Greek wine. “The Malagousia gives it the peachy-floral-jasmine-guava hedonistic feel and the Assyrtiko is all straight-sided and lemon-grapefruit sharp.”
The Condrieu, meanwhile, is “viognier at its most hedonistic… Made at one of the most stylish of Condrieu addresses, this balances freshness with a delicate scent of jasmine, blossom and white peaches. Total heaven.”
