Three red wines from the Hallgarten portfolio made the cut in Matthew Jukes’ 100 Best Value Summer Reds & Rosés in Saturday’s Daily Mail.
Two wines made by San Marzano for M&S, a Primitivo de Manduria and a Negaromaro, as well as an Australian Shiraz from Berton Vineyard starred in the list.
The Notte Rossa Primitive 2014 was described as “cultured, complex and rewarding” with “Italian flair and spice”, while the Negroamaro 2014 hit the spot with its “coffee bean and plum notes”.
The Black Shiraz 2014 from Berton, meanwhile, won the Best Beast of a Red prize. “It’s an absolute beast,” wrote Jukes, “I love its inky colour”.
