Great to see not one, but two, Saint Clair wines written up in yesterday’s Scotland on Sunday.
Brian Elliot loved the 2015 Viognier from Hawkes Bay and the 2014 Grüner Veltliner, both of which featured in his article on stunning New Zealand wines that aren’t Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.
He described the Viognier as having a “peach and mango centred depth” with “honeysuckle, vanilla and nutty touches” and “firm lemon-based acidity”.
The Grüner, meanwhile, was noted for its “citrus and herbal” influences where “green apple and yellow plum fruit vie with minty, pea shoot flavours and a restrained mineral edge.”
