Beverly Tabbron MW
Having started in the wine trade back in 1978, 1996 was a busy year as I passed my MW and in the same year, took on the responsibility for buying at Hallgarten Druitt based in Bedfordshire. Since 2014 I have taken on a new role combining buying with particular emphasis on our French portfolio with new responsibilities as Head of Training and Education leading a team of 2 trainers who are both WSET Certified Educators and Diploma holders.
Having started my wine journey with Majestic Wines in 2007 I have now gained experience in many aspects of the industry. I completed my WSET Level 4 Diploma in 2010, and in 2011 started working with Hallgarten as a wine trainer. I am a WSET certified educator for Levels 1 to 3 and thoroughly enjoy engaging with people working in, and learning about, the wine world. In January 2014 I spent a year away, working in Margaret River and Napa Valley as a cellar hand to gain hands-on experience of the wine production process. This was an incredible opportunity to really develop my understanding of all aspects of wine and develop my capacity as an all-round trainer and educator.
I have a large amount of restaurant management experience both in Toronto, Canada and the United Kingdom, having managed restaurants such as Alma de Cuba in Liverpool and Blackhouse Grill. I currently work as Wine Trainer at Hallgarten Druitt .I aim to give confidence to the bar and restaurant staff I train by passing on my passion and experience. I have finished WSET Level 4 Diploma so I also run WSET courses for Hallgarten. I love exploring the wine world and visiting wineries all over the world.
My first adventure into the world of wine was when I started working in hospitality, going from kitchen porter to deputy manager of the Cork & Bottle in Leicester Square in under a year. After pursuing a photography career for a number of years, I diverted back to my first love and embarked on the WSET Level 2 course to further my unending thirst for oenological knowledge. Passing Level 3 enabled me to finally work with a wine events company where I found myself not only entertaining eager vinophiles while simultaneously studying for the diploma, but also teaching the WSET courses. This experience ignited my love for teaching people about wine and has led me to Hallgarten and quite literally, my dream job!
