Hallgarten adds one of Chile’s most prestigious wine producers to its portfolio
Specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has today announced the introduction of Undurraga to its portfolio. Hallgarten will initially supply 13 Undurraga wines exclusively to the UK on- and off-trade, including the multi-award winning ‘Terroir Hunter’ range of wines.
Hallgarten will represent an extensive Undurraga portfolio, including two sparkling wines and the Sibaris range from vineyards in the Leyda Valley; the premium Altazor Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend - a wine that pays homage to Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro; the Terroir Hunter range, a venture that results in limited and dynamic releases from appellations which truly represent Chilean diversity, regional differences and innovation.
Founded in 1885, Undurraga now owns 1,350 hectares of estate vineyard in some of Chile’s most premium wine producing areas including, Leyda, Maipo, Maule and Limari Valleys. The winemaking team, led by head winemaker, Rafael Urrejola, cultivates the vineyards with ultimate respect for the environment and follow a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar in order to showcase the site-specific terroirs. Undurraga aims to create wines with the minimum of chemical and artificial intervention.
Steve Daniel, Head of Buying at Hallgarten & Novum Wines commented: “Undurraga is a winery I have watched transform over a number of years into one the most dynamic producers in Chile. The winemaking team are pioneers in finding new and unique terroir in regions across the country, and are not afraid to experiment with new winemaking techniques to accelerate Chilean wine to the next-level. Undurraga are a big company in stature, combined with truly pioneering spirit.”
