Hallgarten & Novum Wines Training Department sees rise of 52% in WSET Level Three pass rates
Following a successful 2019, specialist wine importer Hallgarten & Novum Wines has reported an increase in their WSET course pass rates with a substantial rise in passes of students at the final Level before Diploma.
The training team, led by Beverly Tabbron MW, trained its highest number of customers and staff in 2019. 2,893 individuals were educated through either WSET, Hallgarten’s own WineSure training programme or general product training surpassing the company’s 2018 total of 2,602 and 2017 total of 1,776. Of those trained, 340 were WSET courses and the remaining 2,553 WineSure and general wine training and education.
Hallgarten’s bespoke WineSure training programme is aimed at the premium on-trade, providing front of house teams with the knowledge and tools to sell wine. Through a tiered course, individuals gain a comprehensive understanding of the wines on their wine list, giving them the confidence to sell the wines to their customers.
The WSET courses led by the three-strong training department have seen a surge in pass rates between 2018 and 2019, with a 52% increase in the Level Three Exam, to a total of 61% pass rate, including an impressive 100% of candidates passing the tasting exam first time. 90% of successful Level Three candidates passed with Merit or above (64% passed with Merit, 27% passed with distinction).
