Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Named Best Fine Wine at SWA Wine of the Year Awards

Huge congratulations to Schloss Johannisberg for winning the coveted Best Fine Wine at the SWA’s Wine of the Year Awards for its Riesling Silberlack 1st Growth 2013.

The SWA Gold-award winning wine was named Best Fine Wine at the Imbibe Live event at London’s Olympia.

During judging the wine was described as “luscious, with a creamy mouthfeel, intense aromas and flavours of green mango, lychee, melon and kaffir lime”, by Mya Brown of Vinoteca Marylebone.

“Spicy jasmine floral characters mixed with candied lemon, bergamot oil and waxy notes. Great wine, with enormous potential, superbly complex,” added Vinoteca Marylebone’s team leader Olivier Marie, while Caroline Brangé of 28°-50° Mayfair aims to partner the wine with ‘scallops and yuzu with miso broth.’

Elsewhere in the competition, Schloss Johannisberg’s Green Seal, Riesling Spätlese, 2013 won a silver medal. The wine was described by Annette Scarfe MW as “sweet honey and ripe peaches with lime and lemon zest notes, sweetish on the finish.”
