Decanter World Wine Awards 2016: 31 Platinum, Gold & Silver Medals From Hallgarten Producers
The results of the 2016 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) have been announced and there are a number of winning wines from the Hallgarten portfolio, including one Platinum, four Gold and 26 Silver Medal-winning wines.
Grace Wine’s Koshu Private Reserve, 2015 won the Platinum Award in the Best White Asia over £15 category and scored 95 points. It was described by the judges as: “This is a wine with substance and personality, confidently textured from the lees contact, with a pleasurable persistent fresh finish.”
The following four wines picked up coveted Gold Medals:
- Andeluna Cuatro Cepas, 2012. “Beautiful nose, very expressive with incredibly pure black fruits and a minty fresh note. A wine with impressive finesse, to keep and trust" - 96 Points
- Castello Vicchiomaggio ‘Vigna La Prima’ Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, 2012. “A truly fine and elegant wine which shows lovely bright fruit right the way through. Finishes bright with a crunch of harmonious tannins" - 95 Points
- Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino, 2011. “Beautiful wine brimming with vibrant, alluring red fruit. It is powerful with elegant, finely grained tannins, and a long ripe finish - and so easy to enjoy" - 95 Points
- Saint Clair Family Estate Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, 2015. “Curry leaves, a minty note and some camomile and candied lemons fill the bouquet. It has excellent length and impeccable overall balance. A textbook example" - 95 Points
